What is it about 100 days to go that brings the realization that something is OMGREALLYTRULY happening?
I spent my 100-days-out day arranging travel vaccinations, listing out all the little things (and two not-so-little things) that I still need to purchase, reviewing my to-do list (it’s slowly getting smaller), and remembering things like “Oh yeah…still need to get spare bike keys made up. Must not forget to call the BMW shop”.
The next 100 days will crawl, but go way too fast at the same time. And, much like every time I’ve moved, I’m sure I’ll be stressing about little details and to-do’s until about ten minutes after I start my ride north to Vancouver and my first border crossing. And then I’ll remember that critical thing I’ve forgotten.
For anyone that’s curious about my list, here’s a sampling:
- Get travel vaccinations
- Get extra passport photos
- Get International Driver’s Permit
- Get travel medical insurance policy
- Get Garmin maps
- Order a set of PIggyback Strapz from Andy Strapz
- Order some bits from Aerostich
- Order a new. heavy-duty disc lock
- Get a new pair of sneakers because my current ones are worn through
- Get spare bike keys
- Scan travel documents and save them to Dropbox
- Complete customs form for UK temporary import of my bike and send it off
- Modify a lien holder release to account for my husband being listed on my title; get that signed and notarized just in case
- Finalize my packing list
- Practice disconnecting and reconnecting battery (because I’m mechanically inept)
- Ride more. OMG, ride more!!!
