Here’s a handful of photos from Italy that just didn’t really fit in to the other photo sets. Enjoy!
Genoa, Italy
Italian drivers aside (and the crazy roads getting in and out of Genoa – I got lost both times), Genoa was beautiful, and it was pretty incredible seeing the Mediterranean. I took a couple of long walks along Genoa’s promenade, Corsa Italia and took in the views of the sea. Had a great time wandering […]
Bologna, Italy
Bologna was a really enjoyable stop on my way to Genova. I only had an afternoon and evening, but that was plenty of time to explore the city. Granted, if the Ducati factory had been open (it closes for the month of August), I’d have scheduled another day here just to do the factory tour […]
Murano Island, Venice
I spent my last hour or so in Venice on Murano, one of the other islands (it’s famous for glassworks). Much less crowded than the closer-in islands, and there were actually gardens with trees!
Exploring Venice
And back to more typical Venice scenes…canals, bridges, and boats!
Mercati di Rialto, Venice
One of the not-so-touristy things I wants to check out in Venice was both the seafood market and the fruit and vegetable market, both tucked away behind the Rialto bridge and open until about noon each day. If I’d had a pot big enough, one of those lobsters would have been my dinner for sure! […]
Exploring Venice
Ahh, Venice. The canals, the architecture, the romance, the gelato….the crowds! While Venice was stunning, the crowds were just too much for my liking. I was happiest when I got lost and wandered into the nearly deserted residential areas away from the maddening crowds. I broke my Venice photos into a couple of sets – […]
Slovenian Street Art
I love photographing graffiti and street art. Ljubljana gave me a handful of fun stuff to snap photos of, and even had a giant street chess board set up. How cool is that?
Ljubljana, Slovenia
Ljubljana was a great city to explore – from the castle perched high above the city (I took the funicular to get to it) to fried cheese for lunch from a food cart in the central market to a leisurely traditional Slovene dinner (albeit a veg-friendly one), I had a really wonderful day. Like Zagreb, […]
Back To Nature at Plitvicka Lakes, Croatia
I needed a break from exploring cities, so I spent an afternoon getting back to nature (along with what seemed like a million other European nature lovers) exploring the Plitvicka Jezera National Park about two hours south of Zagreb. I still can’t believe how brilliantly blue-green and crystal clear the lakes were. You could see […]
