Italian drivers aside (and the crazy roads getting in and out of Genoa – I got lost both times), Genoa was beautiful, and it was pretty incredible seeing the Mediterranean. I took a couple of long walks along Genoa’s promenade, Corsa Italia and took in the views of the sea. Had a great time wandering around the old city as well – I saw the house that Christopher Columbus is presumed to have been born in, and claimed to the top of a tower built sometime in the 1100s (that’s where the Bauhaus album cover-sequence spiral staircase photo was taken.
