Adventures in Boot Resoling
I love my Vendramini Lady Winna boots. So much so that when I wasn’t sure I could get mine resoled a year ago, I ordered a new pair direct from Italy since there wasn’t a US distributor who could get them for me. But I still held out hope of getting my first pair resoled.
I’d hit up a few recommended online boot repair places over the last 6 months or so and each of them told me my boots couldn’t be resoled. I tossed them in the gear closet and kind of forgot about my mission.
Fast forward to three weeks ago when I was cleaning out the gear closet. I pulled out my boots and decided to take them to Dorian’s the local cobbler in downtown Portland who’s done great things for my fluevogs. I was pretty sure he’d look at them, shake his head, and tell me I was out of luck. To my surprise, he told me he could totally do it and brought out the sole catalog. He gave me a couple of options and recommended a heavy-duty vibram sole that he’d used with good reports back from other motorcyclists.
I picked up my spiffy resoled boots today. They look amazing. As good as new, Velcro that’s free of cat hair, and robust soles that should hold up better. I’m totally taking my backup Vendraminis in for new soles soon. Take a look! And if you’re in Portland and need a great cobbler, go see Dorian on 6th Ave downtown. He’s the best!
