I have a motorbike trip on the horizon! I was fortunate enough to receive tires (by way of a Revzilla gift certificate) from my husband and a chain and sprockets (by way of a gift card from my parents) for my bike, and I got other travel-related accessories. My favorite? The Lonely Planet Eastern Europe phrasebook. At least now I might be able to muddle through greeting folks and asking if they speak English. At least it will complement the one word I know in Polish (na zdrowie, which means ‘cheers’ or ‘to your health’) and the two words I know in Russian (nyet and spasibo, which means ‘thank you’). More likely though, I’ll be giving the locals a giggle or three with my phrasebook.
