Ljubljana was a great city to explore – from the castle perched high above the city (I took the funicular to get to it) to fried cheese for lunch from a food cart in the central market to a leisurely traditional Slovene dinner (albeit a veg-friendly one), I had a really wonderful day. Like Zagreb, Ljubljana still feels a little gritty, and a lot like real life happens and the travelers just kind of blend in. I don’t think I saw a single massive tour group the entire day. What a relief!
