My little BMW is sad again. Now that the water pump is fixed, it’s been having some weirdly intermittent power problems, mostly starting from stops, such as at red lights. It feels rather like I forgot to downshift to first (but I did downshift) and just craaaaawls until it finally picks up speed. But it’s been so intermittent that it’s not really, truly reproduce-able, so it’s been tough to troubleshoot.
And today, my engine temperature came on in all of its blaring red glory as I was pulling in to work. Argh. I sorted out a tow to get home – I wasn’t about to risk a blown head gasket or worse by trying to deal with rush hour traffic on an 85+ degree day if it’s having cooling issues. Fingers crossed it’s simple (like an air bubble somewhere on the line or a broken radiator cap) – if it’s not, I’m caving and dropping it at the dealership in a few weeks’ time to get it sorted once and for all.
In the meantime, I will be Scrmablin’ to work. It’s not all bad!
