Gear Review: First commute on my new Metzeler Roadtec 01s

First impressions of my new tires are good. They’re a little noisy, but I suspect that’s due to them actually being new. My morning commute was drizzly with wet streets, and I had dry streets on the way home. Grip was great both ways, and my bike handles so much better – cornering is natural and effortless again, and the weird oscillation due to scalloping on my old tires is gone. I went with Metzeler’s specs and got the HWM (heavy weight motorcycle) rear tire – all the cracks and holes in the Portland road were smoothed right out as a result, and I didn’t make any suspension adjustments. Seriously huge improvement in how my bike handles compared to riding in similar conditions last week on my old tires. Woo!
