I am not mechanically inclined. This is a known truth. Today, I impressed myself by successfully re-installing the base plate for my top box on my BMW all by myself. Figuring out the right tools, putting it in the right place on my tail rack, and even doing the tricky ‘hold-the-nut-still-with-one hand-while-tightening-the-screw-with-the-other’ part for all four screws to bolt it on.
After that success, I put a hole in my thumb under my thumbnail when I put my top box key back on my every-day motorbike key ring. Because I can’t do anything mechanically-minded without making a blood sacrifice.
